Baked Chik'n Seitan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 cup water (or broth)
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (or tahini or other nut butter)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste or powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8x8 baking dish with canola oil. Mix the dry ingredients separately from the liquid ingredients, then combine dry and wet.
  2. Stir until a dough forms and then knead dough for 3 minutes.
  3. Flatten into baking dish and bake for 20 minutes
  4. Add sauce and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes.
