Homemade Vegan Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 12oz. can tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Sriracha
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, mix together all of the ingredients.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Serve immediately or store in an airtight glass container.

Notes

2 tablespoons is a lot for liquid smoke - adjusting this to less will change the rest of the proportions
