Peppermint Bark

peppermint bark
Yield: 1 lb
Total Time: 1 hour
Categories: dessert

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dark chocolate
  • 4 oz white chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candy

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate in a greased microwave safe bowl for 30 second intervals until it easily stirs together melted.
  2. Spread the melted dark chocolate in a wax paper lined pan. Let cool about 10 minutes, or in the freezer, until mostly set.
  3. Repeat the melting process for the white chocolate, but stir in the peppermint extract once melted.
  4. Pour the minty white chocolate over the hardened dark chocolate, smooth it out evenly. If the dark chocolate starts bleeding, just swirl with a knife after there's a nice layer.
  5. Now sprinkle the crushed peppermint candy (pressing it in to the chocolate a bit) over the unset white chocolate top, before placing in the fridge to completely cool and harden (or leave it on the counter for a few hours to harden at room temperature).
  6. Once hard, you can use a sharp knife to cute squares/rectangles, or simply break pieces off (breaking pieces off works best if you made thin bark).
